Hello there, thank you for visiting my site. My name is John Laddie please allow me to introduce myself. After spending all my working life in the construction industry, on retirement three years ago I started wood turning, which had been an ambition for years. Unfortunately, my business as a consultant Clerk of Works prevented this as I spent long periods abroad. I am now a compulsive turner who can't wait to get into my workshop every day, now on my third lathe a Union Graduate which I find an excellent machine. I have made an indexing system which is a great asset and now in the process of having a variable speed fitted. I also take a lot of satisfaction in making some of my own tools and jigs. I get a lot of satisfaction from segmented work but find I have to take a break, after or during the assembly of the small segments and get the shaving flying on other items. Although some don't agree, in my opinion all turning is Art and a constant learning curve with much patience being required. |
